What is a pre-nup?

A pre-nuptial agreement is entered into prior to marriage to regulate ownership of assets on any subsequent marital breakdown. Such agreements can be used to protect pre-existing assets, monies/assets acquired during your marriage.

We are specialist and experienced family solicitors with a wealth of experience in assisting parties to negotiate and enter into pre nuptial and post nuptial agreements.

Under present law it is not the existence of an agreement per se which is important but rather the manner in which the agreement is entered into and whether it contains important legal safeguards. That is what determines whether an agreement is likely to be enforceable on any subsequent future challenge by one party to the agreement.

We can help you on a transactional basis by drawing up an pre nup agreement in accordance with terms you have already negotiated with your fiancé. We can offer this service on a fixed fee basis. Our fees are £750 plus VAT and disbursements for assisting in cases with assets up to £1 Million inclusive of pension provision.

For higher asset cases and/or if you need advice/assistance in negotiating terms of the agreement then as specialist family solicitors we can assist you on an hourly rate basis of £150 plus VAT and disbursements and are very happy to discuss an appropriate fixed fee package depending upon your individual circumstances and level of assistance required.

We can offer specialist tax and trust advice should you require this via one of our consultant solicitors within our legal practice.
